Lasik Eye Surgery FAQ:
I’m 14, I’ve worn glasses for 3 years. I don’t mind wearing them but sometimes it kind of bothers if I see a pair of sunglasses I really like but I can’t wear them. I’ve considered getting transitions but I’m not sure. I don’t know how much they are yet. I know the cost of lasik.

Anyway, am I too young to get it? If I’m not, do you think I should?
Thanks.

Yes, you’re too young. On top of that, your glasses make you look hot.
Yes you are too young to get Lasik. You should be able to get lasik in your late teens to early 20s after you are finished growing and your vision stabilizes.
You may want to consider contact lenses, they require more maintenance and responsibility on your part. I suggest asking your parents about it. If you have contact lenses, then you can get any pair of sunglasses you like.
Try contacts first. My eye doctor is a specialist and he said that lasik is not fool proof and only suggests it to people with terribly failing eyesm or for cataracts or glaucoma treatment.
He said it is still too new to know long term effects. As well, there are so many places doing it that may have iffy credentials!
You are also too young, your eyes are still changing. They won’t do it for several years yet.
HI! Well, lasik is not done on anyone under 18. That said, most reputable doctors will not do it until you are in your early 20’s and your prescription has been stable for a couple of years. there are many other factors involved in determining if you are a good candidate or not. It is not just determined by your age and Rx. The best thing would be to consult your eye doctor that you normally see and talk to them about it. They know more about your own individual circumstances and can give you an answer that is tailored to you and your situation!
yes you are too young. your eyes usually don’t stop changing until you are 18-21. most drs recommend the surgery for ages 21+.
and btw you look awesome in those frames!
Yes you are to young to have lasik . My mom wants me to have lasik when I am 18 years old. that is the law.
