in NYC.$300 to $1299 per eye………………..
everyont I know who had it is happy
yea my dad had it and he is very happy. it cost him about au$1000 per eye. you would need to the lasik people to find out what happens but it is day surgery although you would need someone to go with you to bring you home as you come out with special patched that look like flys eyes.
there is some discomfort but in the end the results are really good.
THe procedure: Prior to the procedure you may or may not be medicated with anti anxiety meds before the procedure depending preference of the doctor.
The first step in LASIK is creating the corneal flap, your eye will be held open with a device. Using either a microkeratome (uses a small blade) or the intralase laser ( all laser no blade used. and usually more expensive) a flap will be created, your eye will look as if you have a contact on the eye with a hinge left at the top of the contact attached to the eye. The dr. will lift that up and treat with the laser to reshape the cornea according to what your prescritption is. After the cornea will be irrigated and the flap layed back down and placed back exactly where it came from. Medicated drops will be placed in the eye such as a antibiotic, anti-inflammatory and maybe an aspirin for the eye and maybe a artificial tear. You may be sent home with sheilds on your eyes or at least sunglasses. You will need to go home and sleep or at least have your eyes closed for most of the day. You will be using a few different drops in your eyes for about 5 days and after that you will continue to use artificial tears to keep the eyes moist since that is the biggest side effect of the procedure. This is the procedure for just LASIK, if you needed to have epi-lasik , LASEK or PRK then the creation of the flap is different and healing time is longer and more difficult in most cases ( depending on the surgeons technique.
Make sure you do a lot of research on the doctors and centers you are considering and always get more than one opinion, not all docs are ethical in this business since LASIK is the “money” in the eye care field. Depending on where you live and what your prescription is and the technology you use price can vary. I would say anywhere between 500 to 1800 per eye. As long as you trust your dr. I definitely think it is worth it.I hope I helped! Good Luck!
